Effectiveness and Benefits of Telepsychology:
Telehealth has consistently been found to be an effective way to provide psychological treatment.
Benefits to using telehealth are numerous:
* Increased accessibility.
* Access for individuals in rural areas
* Access for communities lacking specialists
* Continuity of care for individuals in transition, college or those that live in different areas at different times of the year
*Convenience, less time traveling and more time connecting
*Transportation is not necessary
The use of telehealth depends on many variables including the client’s current level of distress. I recommend working with local and in-person providers when an individual’s level of distress includes concerns about safety and/or complex concerns.
